Naima Mohammadi is a visiting teaching assistant professor at the Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies Center at Pittsburgh University. She specifically focuses on the experiences of Muslim women issues in non-Muslim majority contexts. Her research interest is associated with putting Colored and Covered Muslim Feminism in dialogue with ‘Global feminism’. Previously, she used to serve as a visiting scholar at the Global Studies Center (GSC) at the University of Pittsburgh (2022) and the Department of Political Science, Law, and International Studies at the University of Padova, Italy (2020-2021). She worked very closely with Elena Cornaro, at the Center for Gender and Women Studies, and conducted her research study on the semantic implication of the Islamic veil in Europe.  Dr. Mohammadi also was an affiliated assistant professor in the Department of Social Science at Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman, Iran (2014-2018). Her book “The Sociology of Polygamous Families” investigates one of the most exceptional family lifestyles of Muslim women in the Baluchistan region and highlights the circumstances of religious and ethnic minority women in Iran.
